Senders and travelers agree the fee directly. Typical hand-carry fees run $10–$60 for a few kilos, which is still far below express courier retail for the same route while paying the traveler for spare allowance they were not using.
A hand-carry courier is a passenger who carries your item in their own luggage. There is no depot, no sorting hub, and no freight leg, so delivery takes exactly as long as the flight — usually the same day, while DHL, FedEx, and UPS international express still quote 2–5 business days.
Carrying a gift or personal item for someone is legal in most countries, but you are the declared owner at customs. Only accept open, inspected, clearly legal items within your baggage allowance, never sealed packages, and declare anything dutiable on arrival.
Refuse anything sealed or unexplained, cash, dangerous goods, loose lithium batteries, liquids over allowance, perishables, medication for resale, and anything customs-restricted on your route.
